Gutter Cleaning in Pokolbin: Two 18 m Farm Sheds, Packed Gutters and Empty Water Tanks ($385)

Gary runs a farm in Pokolbin with two big sheds, each 18 metres long with gutters down both sides. That's about 72 metres of gutter, and every metre was packed with leaves, with plants starting to grow out of it. On a farm that's two problems: the rain wasn't reaching the water tanks, and dry leaf litter sitting on a roof under gum trees is fuel heading into bushfire season.

The job at a glance

  • Customer: Gary

  • Location: Pokolbin, Hunter Valley

  • Property: Farm with two sheds, each 18 m long

  • Roof type: Corrugated iron sheds

  • Problem: Gutters on both sides packed with leaves, with plants growing in them

  • Service: Vacuum gutter cleaning, both sheds, both sides

  • Price: $385

  • Result: Gutters running clear to the tanks, and fire fuel removed

The problem

Under the gum trees the leaves don't stop, and these gutters had been filling for a long time. Leaves, sticks and gum nuts had packed in tight, and plants had started growing in the gutter itself.

For a farm, the gutters are the water supply. A blocked gutter overflows over the edge instead of running down to the tank, so every storm is water lost. That matters on a property that relies on tank water.

What Turbovac did

Mark vacuumed out all four runs, both sides of both sheds, sending the leaves, sticks and sludge straight into the vacuum bins. Nothing was dumped on the ground around the sheds.

The result

Farm shed gutter in Pokolbin vacuumed clear by Turbovac, with the box gutter fully open
After: gutter vacuumed clear, the full width open again
Cleared 18 metre farm shed gutter in Pokolbin after vacuum gutter cleaning, ready to feed the rainwater tank
After: 18 m of clean gutter ready to carry rain to the tank

The gutters are open end to end again, so the next rain goes into Gary's tanks instead of over the edge. The dry fuel sitting on the shed roofs is gone before bushfire season.

What it cost

$385 for both 18-metre farm sheds, gutters on both sides. Quoted up front, with no surprises on the day.

Sheds, farm buildings and rural properties across the Hunter Valley are quoted the same way: tell us what's there and you get a fixed price before we start.
